Threave Countryside Estate

The National Trust for Scotland required a large ensemble of design work to promote the Threave Estate, near Castle Douglas, Scotland.

A permanent exhibition encourages visitors to explore the estate and offers the opportunity for those less able-bodied to gain a flavour of the flora, fauna, heritage and landscape. We worked with NTS, formulating interpretation, planning, themes, educational value and evaluation.

We project-managed the complete design and installation which included an artist-designed metal sculpture sign, an original elm bench, panels, graphics, framework, tower with interactive touchscreen, touchy-feely boxes and 3d interactive tools, a virtual bird hide video-link and overview video of the Estate. The project required skills in developing brand identity and interpretation, producing time-lapse video, commissioning bespoke furniture and sculpture and designing and typesetting a guidebook.
